When/Where: Shows start at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Byham Theater in Pittsburgh. Catch a 2 p.m. showing on Sunday.

Why Go: Catch up with your favorite characters from the classic Dr. Seuss books with this musical extravaganza that’s sure to leave you rhyming – and singing!
Price: Tickets range from $12.25 to $22.75 for a child and $12.25 to $44.75 for an adult.

When/Where: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the on Rochester Road in Cranberry.
Why Go: Give a dress new life for a good cause. The event will feature hundreds of gently used prom dresses, each priced at $20. Accessories also are available for $5 or less. Proceeds benefit various outreach ministries of the church.
Price: Admission is free.
When/Where: 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday at in Cranberry.
Why Go: Girls learn to kick butt in this self-defense class for those ages 13 and older. The class will teach basic strikes and attacks and your class fee will be donated to the Victim Outreach Intervention Center.
Price: Donations of $5 to $10 is suggested.
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.
Why Go: Watch Olympic skaters fly across the ice in this show featuring gold medalist – and “Dancing with the Stars” finalist – Evan Lysacek, silver medalist Sasha Cohen and gold medalist Ekaterina Gordeeva among others.
Price: Tickets range from $26.25 to $147.
When/Where: 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Jennings Environmental Education Center in Slippery Rock.
Why Go: Take the kids to learn how sap taken from a maple tree becomes the syrup you slather on pancakes and waffles. The day begins with an indoor presentation followed by a guided outdoor walk featuring a working evaporator and a taste of real maple syrup. Sweet!
