Get Out for July 22nd

Relay for Life, Rock-n-Hockey and Animal Friends' Margaritaville benefits headline this weekend.

1) Kick off the weekend early with a lunchtime concert --  this Friday at noon.  

When/Where: Friday, July 22 at 12 p.m. at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center

2525 Rochester Rd, Cranberry Twp, PA at the Municipal Center Gazebo

Why go: This is a nice opportunity to eat lunch and listen to some wonderful music.

 2) Support local cancer survivors and the efforts of the American Cancer Society at the Relay for Life this weekend.

When/Where: Saturday, July 223rd to Sunday, July 24th starting at 8 a.m. with the opening ceremony at 10 a.m., activities last until Sunday morning at North Boundary Park, Cranberry. . Visit http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?pg=entry&fr_id=33620 for more information and schedule of events.

Why go: The Cranberry Relay for Life has raised over $40,000 in their first 7 years. Come support their efforts to raise more money to fight cancer and awareness.

Price: Free.

3)  Get out and have fun while helping those who help us! The is raising funds for Cranberry police officer, Dan Hahn, and Clairton police officer, James Kuzak, both of whom were injured on the job.

When/Where: Saturday, July 23 at 1:30 p.m. at the , 105 E Pike St, Canonsburg, PA.

Why go: This is going to be some great entertainment. The Rock-n-Hockey event will feature an ice hockey game at 1:30 p.m. where local police will play against celebrities and Pittsburgh Penguins alumni. Then the fun continues at 4 p.m. with the Battle of the Bands rock concert with JINX, RPGS and 33 1/3.

The proceeds from this even will benefit the officers and their families. For some background information: Cranberry Police Corporal Dan Hahn, was badly injured in pursuing a suspect on February 14, and Clairton police officer James Kuzak received gunshot wounds on April 4 in response to a home invasion call. Both men have shown admirable spirit in their recoveries. Come support them and show thanks.

Price: $25; children under 10 are free.

4)  The Starlite Car Cruise features over 100 cars every Friday night!

When/Where: Friday, July 22 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at North Way Christian Community, 12121 Perry Hwy, Wexford, PA  15090. For more information, visit Website: http://www.starlitecarcruise.com/index.shtml or 724-935-6803 Ext. 2222.

Why go: This is one of the largest car cruises in the area and each week features over 100 cars. There are also various events featured each week including food vendors, music and contests.

Price: Free.

5) This weekend is the chance to party with your best friend while helping a good cause.  How about the Animal Friends’ Margaritaville Event where you BYO dog?

When/Where: Friday, July 22, 7 to 8:15 p.m. at Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.  Event will be on their patio, lawn and trails.

Why go: Have fun with your best-friend (canine or human, or both) at a cookout with Jimmy Buffett music and puppies everywhere. Food, margarita, raffle tickets and an off-leash canine social. Jimmy Buffett-inspired attire is encouraged for all.
