Get Out: An Egg-Cellent Easter Weekend

1.  Victory Church Eggstravaganza

When/Where: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at

Why Go: Welcome to the mother of all Easter egg hunts. The event features 80,000 candy-filled Easter eggs across the church’s grass fields in eight separate hunts. There also will be inflatable rides, balloon artists, a puppet show and more. For teens, there’s a rock-climbing wall, a bungee run, pedestal jousting and a Velcro wall. Parking is available at Manheim Pittsburgh on Route 19, and there will be continuous shuttles to the church. This is one Easter event you don’t want to miss!

Price: Free, but bring some cash for the food vendors.

2.  Easter Egg Hunt and Spring Festival

When/Where: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 23, in Zelienople.

Why Go: Join in on the fun during the town’s Spring Festival with the Lions Easter Egg Hunt. Afterward, head over to the Friends of the Park festival at the community's tennis courts, where there will be bounce houses, face painting, games, food and balloon artists.

Price: Free

3. Soergel's Spring Scavenger Hunt

When/Where: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Soergel Orchards Farm Market, Wexford.

Why Go: Have the children hop around the stores and inside the bounce house looking for clues to find the missing bunnies. Find the bunnies and get a prize bag at the end of the hunt!

Pricing: $7 per child.

4. Pittsburgh Pirates Game and Bunny Promotion

When/Where: 1:35 p.m. Sunday at PNC Park, Pittsburgh.

Why Go: Children 14 and younger will receive a Build-a-Bear Pirates Bunny at the gates. It is Easter, after all! The Pirates will play the Nationals. Sundays are Kids Day at PNC Park; a Family Fun Zone is set up on Federal Street. After the game, children are invited down to the field to run the bases.

Pricing: Ticket prices range from $9 to $47.

5. ‘Easter Parade" at the Strand

When/Where: 7:30 p.m. Saturday at The Strand Theater in Zelienople.

Why Go: To see July Garland and Fred Astaire dance across the screen. Although, Astaire and Garland already were well-established stars when they were cast together in “Easter Parade,” they hadn't yet met. Hum along with “Happy Easter,” a melody penned just for the film, to get you in the mood for Sunday.  

Pricing: $5 per person, $4 for those 60 and older.
