Get Out: A Chili Outing and the Kean Quest Talent Search

There are all kinds of worthwhile activities happening this weekend throughout the Cranberry area. Here’s a look at what’s going on.

1. Learn to Dance

When/Where: 7-11 p.m. Friday at the gym on Rochester Road in Cranberry.

Why Go: Even those with two left feet can learn to dance with this program. This month’s featured dance is the graceful and romantic Viennese Waltz. Singles and couples are welcome. Dancers should not wear shoes that will mark the gym floor, including spike heels or shoes with black rubber soles.

Price: $10. Pre-registration is not required.

When/Where: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at EDCO Park in Evans City. 

Why Go: Held in conjunction with the Evans City Lions Club, the third annual chili open is the perfect mesh of chili and golf. will provide free chili for the event.  will offer a free nacho bar for attendees. All proceeds benefit EDCO Park.  

Price: $15 per golfer. Checks may be made payable to Evans City Lions Club.

When/Where: 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at

Why Go: The church’s Men’s Club is sponsoring the golf bash, which is open to the public. The event includes food, beverages and beer. There will be raffles for golf and other prizes. Ticketholders do not have to be at the event to win golf prizes. Winners must be present for the 50/50 drawing and to receive door prizes.

Why Go: Cranberry manager Jerry Andree and Superintendent Tracy Vitale will to answer their questions and concerns about the community and the school district.

Price: Free

When/Where: 1 p.m. Sunday at at 5847 Meridian Rd in Gibsonia.

Why Go: Singers of all ages are invited to compete in the 2012 Kean Quest Talent Search. Contestants compete in the youth vocal category and the adult vocal category for those age 19 and older. The Jackie Evancho award will be presented at the vocal finals on March 30. The award will go to the person who exemplifies courage and motivation and pushes through to follow their dreams.

Price: $25 per registered act. Contestants also will be asked to sell seven tickets to the performance.
