Frostbite 5K in North Park to Benefit Locals Living with Autism

The event will benefit the Advisory Board on Autism and Related Disorders.

TJ Burke, a local educator and law enforcement officer, has teamed up with the Advisory Board on Autism and Related Disorders to conduct the first Frostbite 5K run at .

"I am so excited...to sponsor the race, benefiting the Advisory Board on Autism and Related Disorders (ABOARD) and [its] mission of providing a lifeline to support families and individuals affected by autism," Burke said.

Burke is the eighth-grade boys basketball coach at Community Day School in Squirrel Hill. He has spent six years working as an autism therapist and as a trainer advocate with adults diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome

“TJ  was very moved by his autism work and is driven to  helping kids with autism," said Lu Randall, executive director of ABOARD. "He is a dynamic force working to get this new event noticed by sponsors, runners and walkers. His commitment to families with autism is strong, and his energy is super high.” 

The event will begin at 10 a.m. Jan. 28 at the North Park Boathouse. starts at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $20 for anyone who registers by Saturday. After that, the cost will be $25. Children younger than 5 may participate for free.
