Five Things You Need to Know This Week

Patch gives you a rundown of what's going on around the community.

1. Friends of the Cranberry Library Valentine Book Sale

Buy a decorated bag with three books of your choice, a bookmark and some sweets at the library, located inside the Cranberry Township Municipal Center on Rochester Road. It's a nice gift and all proceeds go to the library!

2. Ash Wednesday

Wednesday, Feb. 12 marks the beginning of the 46-day Lent period leading up to Easter. A number of churches around the Cranberry area will hold Ash Wednesday services. For some religions, this includes the imposition of ashes—which is when the foreheads are marked with ashes.

The ashes are typically made from the palms used at the prior year's Palm Sunday services and blessed. Check our Patch directory for a list of local churches.
