Five Things You Need to Know This Week

Patch gives you a rundown of what's going on around the community.

1. Cranberry Planning Advisory Commission

Get the scoop on what developments are in the works for Cranberry. The commission meets at 6 p.m. tonight (Tuesday) at the on Rochester Road. On the agenda are proposed plans at the intersection of Freshcorn and Glen Eden roads and a new Dentistry for Kids office on Route 19.

2. Children of the World Choir

in Cranberry will host the , which includes children from Nepal, Uganda, and the Philippines, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5 at the church, located at 1270 Dutilh Road. The concert is free, but donations will be taken to support the Operation Baby Rescue program.

3. Cranberry Board of Supervisors Meeting—Cancelled

The Cranberry board of supervisors scheduled for Thursday inside council chambers at the has been cancelled. All business was addressed at the Aug. 30 meeting.

4. Bluegrass and Old Time Music Festival In Harmony

The first annual takes place from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 in Harmony and features five bands. The headliner is Dry Branch Fire Squad. 

The festival will be held throughout the town. Food and drink vendors include Fisher's, Phil's Woodshed, Grace Church and Zipco. Full Pint Brewing will be doing a tasting (21 and over only, ID required). Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for kids.

5. Puppy Plunge at Cranberry Water Park

The annual Puppy Plunge is the last hurrah at the .

Bring your dog (ages 6 months and older) to the water park Saturday, Sept. 8 for a swim. Each time slot will include unstructured play and include special competitive events.

Dog owners MUST bring their dog's current veterinarian certificated to document rabies vaccination.

The available time slots are from 9 to 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 to 2:30 p.m. Pre-registration is recommended.
