Evans City’s Tin Man Sweets Among Finalists in ‘Pittsburgh’s Best Chocolate Chip Cookies’ Contest

Voting for the contest is open through Friday, June 14.

Tin Man Sweets is in a “sweet spot,” but they need your help to get to no.1.

The Evans City bakery, owned by husband-and-wife baking team Justin and Maria Wroblewski, is among 11 shops from around the Pittsburgh region to be named finalists in WPXI’s “Pittsburgh’s Best Chocolate Chip Cookies” contest.

Bakeries in the area that received the most nominations, including Dozen Bake Shop and Dudt’s Bakery, were selected as finalists in the contest.

On Tuesday, a panel of celebrity judges, including Jill and Kendall Vertes of “Dance Moms,” international singing superstar Jackie Evancho, Mikey from 96.1 KISS FM and Dave Johnson and Peggy Finnegan of WPXI-TV selected their top three cookies in a blind taste test.

The winner was the hand-dipped Butterfinger chocolate chip cookie from Bethel Bakery.

Coming in at second were the chewy cookies from Nancy’s B’s Bakery in West Homestead. Sinful Sweet Bakery in Pittsburgh nabbed third place for its milk chocolate drizzle cookie.

While Tin Man Sweets didn’t make the top three in the blind taste test, they still have a chance to be no.1 in the popular vote.

Voting for the public opened at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 5 and will close at 3 p.m. Friday, June 14.

The winners in the contest will be determined by a combination of the public vote and taste test scores. They will be revealed during the week of June 17.

Award plaques will be given to the first, second and third place bakeries. Award certificates will be given to the remaining finalists.
