Cranberry Physician Takes Calls on KDKA Monday Night

Dr. Robert Biederman will answer questions about advances in diagnosing and treating heart disease.

Dr. Robert Biederman, a resident of Cranberry and a cardiovascular disease specialist at Allegheny General Hospital on the North Side, will be a guest on KDKA Radio’s Medical Frontiers program from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday.

Biederman is director of AGH’s Cardiovascular MRI Center. Described as a newer approach to diagnosing cardiovascular disease, cardiac MRI captures three-dimensional images of a beating heart and blood flow through the coronary arteries, according to a statement from AGH.

The technology enables cardiologists to evaluate a patient’s cardiovascular health, including the viability of the heart muscle and its pumping capacity, heart valve damage and existence of potentially life-threatening plaque buildup in the arteries. The test takes about 45 minutes.
