Got a pair of shoes you no longer need collecting dust somewhere in your home? They could be put to good use this holiday season.
The Cranberry Township Area Lions Club is collecting gently used shoes—including shoes for men, women and children—during the month of December to benefit Souls4Souls.
A collection box is located in the Cranberry Township Municipal Center Caring Center, across from the township offices, for the shoes.
Last year marked the first shoe collection coordinated by the Cranberry Lions. The organization collected 384 pairs of shoes, which were then distributed via Souls4Souls to needy people in the U.S. and throughout the world in places where having a pair of shoes is not always a reality.
In 2012, the Lions are hoping to beat last year’s total.
Lion Steve DiTommaso is coordinating the collection through Soles4Souls. A non-profit group based in Nashville, TN, Soles4Souls has delivered more than 16 million pairs of new and gently worn shoes to people in more than 127 countries—including Kenya, Thailand, Nepal—since 2005.
