Cabin Fever Giving You the Chills?

Then it's time to get out! Here are a few cabin fever cures to keep your family healthy

If the kids start showing off their artistic abilities on your walls, you know it's time to get out of the house.

Even though Phil predicted an early spring -- and despite the teaser of warm weather we had earlier this week -- we’re still looking at at least six more weeks until we can really break free of the confines of our four walls to get outside and enjoy the sun and fresh air.

My kids, as I'm sure many others can relate to, have been going stir-crazy since the day after Santa visited.

There are only so many crafts and drawings my office cube walls can hold, and while we try to get them outside to burn some off some of that endless energy, there just seems to be way too many days made for polar bears only.

Unitl the weather truly gets warm, here are a few things to do around the Cranberry area to help to keep everyone in the family healthy and sane, without making your wallet cry.

Jumpin’ Castle

Located on Warrendale Drive, this indoor play area offers something for kids ranging from the new walkers to the experienced climbers. Kids can let off steam by climbing and sliding on the castle play structure, jump away the cobwebs on the bounce structure, and shoot some hoops in the basketball room.

Lilliput Town Center

Encourage the kids to stretch their imaginations by “shopping” in the local grocery market, diagnosing a patient as the town doctor, or saving the day as the local fireman/woman. Your child's imagination can run rampant in this miniature town.

Bounce U

“Open Bounce” and “Family Bounce Night” are just a few events families could enjoy at this Warrendale play area. There even is a "Parents Night Out," the second Friday of each month, which offers kids ages 4-12 three hours of bouncing, as well as pizza and a movie.

Cranberry Library

Story times are offered at various times and based on age throughout the week. Check out the Family Pajama Storytime at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. It's a great way to wind down your day.

Fun Fore All

With an indoor play area, arcade, and “Ballocity,” Fun Fore All offers, well, fun for all. Ballocity offers three stories of fun, including air cannons, a slide and about 30 other interactive activities.

Barnes & Noble offers story times at 10 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Cranberry store, with occasional Saturday readings as well. More information on events is listed here.
