Babysitter’s Club: Cranberry Holding Training for Teens

The teens will be taught safe babysitting techniques.

For most teenagers, babysitting is among their first paying jobs.  But doing it really well requires good technique, as well as good judgment.

A new, full-day class in safe babysitting provides teens 11 to 15 years of age with a fast-paced, hands-on course in safe and responsible babysitting. The course will be held at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center.

Combining DVD segments with role-playing, young people learn how to care for children and infants. They are shown how to become good leaders, to make good decisions, to solve problems and to stay safe, a statement from the township said.

Everyone who completes the course receives a Safe Sitter Kit and handbook, a certificate of completion, a notepad for recording important numbers, a bandage dispenser and an LED flashlight—all in a drawstring bag.

Advance registration is required for the course, which runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, April 13.

There is a program fee of $55 for residents, $61 for non-residents, payable at the time of registration.
