American Cancer Society Greater Cranberry Relay for Life
Despite heat and ominous skies, hundreds turn out for 24-hour Relay for Life at North Boundary Park.

Over 40 teams walked for the 24-hour time period from Saturday morning to Sunday morning. One of those teams, Sharon's Smile, was lead by whose wife, Sharon, is fighting brain cancer.

Sharon was there on and off with Robert and was sitting with her sister-in-law, Leslie Faulkner, when we were visiting. Leslie's husband is Robert's brother and is in China on a mission trip, so Leslie was filling in. Leslie lives in Monaca and the Faulkners live in Mars.
"Stefan's Heroes" represented Stefan Johnstan who lost his battle to lung cancer on June 6th. Their team consisted of Teri, Stefan's widow, and his son, Zack Johnstan, from Richland Township; her sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Larry DePaolis, of Pine Township; and other family members filling in through the event.

Stefan loved to garden so the family chose a gardening theme for their booth. A sign, "Weed out Cancer, Grow Hope," decorated their booth.
It was an event to raise awareness and funds in the fight against cancer.
