Five Things You Need to Know This Week

Patch gives you a rundown of what's going on in the community this week.

1. Cranberry Public Library Closes for Renovations

Cranberry Library will be closing for a minor renovation project Monday, Aug. 19 through Wednesday, Aug. 21.  The library will reopen with normal operating hours at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22.

2. Stand Up Paddle Board Yoga

Learn how to maneuver a stand up paddle board from 7:45 to 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19 at the Zelienople Community Pool. 

Yoga can be tried on the board and on dry land. Keystone Sojourns is providing the boards and Dana Lowers is teaching the yoga.

3. Mommy & Me Meet Up

 McGinnis Sisters in Adams Township will hold two free Mommy & Me sessions, at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 22.

This month’s activity is science experiments. Kids will try their hand at whipping up some fun science experiments. This is going to be a messy one, so dress your child in clothes that you do not mind getting dirty.

4. Seneca Valley Marching Band Annual Pie Festival

The Seneca Valley Marching Band and auxiliary units will present the all new 2013-2014 half-time show at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22 at the high school stadium. There also will be servings of pie, ice cream and beverages. Admission is $4.

5. Young Songwriters in Harmony

Join Bottlebrush: A Gallery for the Arts in Harmony at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23 for its Young Songwriters program. The gathering features local songwriters performing in the round and swapping songs.

The event is BYOB. The cost is $10.
