Friday evening May 18, 2012, 7pm-9pm  Please join us for the opening night reception for Trevor King, a Slippery Rock University graduate and artist. Refreshments served; live music by Ronni Weiss, blues vocalist.

Artist Statement:

As a child, I loved traveling in the back seat of my parents' car. On long drives, I would stare out the window, gazing into the wild and unknown world outside and think, "On the other side of this glass, things are happening, people are living." I would dream about where I would find myself down the road, where my destiny would lead me.  The works that I create are based on this type of observation.

The artworks selected for this exhibit are ruminations on the past, present and future. I have been inspired by drawing connections between my own experiences and the lives of my father and grandfather, both individuals whose trade led to a certain career. I hope to create a dialogue between labor and artistry.

Nestled in Historic Harmony is the Bottlebrush Gallery, a vibrant, trendy gallery featuring original creations from regional artists and monthly concerts by traveling and local folk/blues/Americana musicians. The small-venue acoustics give audiences an outstanding listening experience, and the spacious well-lit interior highlights the artists' work in jewelry, glass, pottery, fibers, sculpture, photography and paintings. In addition to art and music showings, the gallery hosts monthly singer/songwriter workshops, reading groups and art classes for children.
