Pistols and Pink has been gathering for nearly a year at the Millvale Sportsmen's Club in Wexford, where the special networking events incorporate opportunities for women entrepreneurs to share about their businesses, such as Mary Kay or Tastefully Simple. Kuznicki, a patent attorney at Lynch Weis LLC in Cranberry, told the Pittsburgh Business Times that she used to attend a lot of networking events as an attorney, but wanted to do an activity that …

Jergel's owner, and restaurant consultant, Ron Sofranko says he has the answer.
Whenever Cranberry Patch posts an article on new developments moving into the area, it typically generates comments from readers asking why most of the new restaurants moving into the area are chain restaurants. A few months back, Patch interviewed Ron Sofranko, a North Hills area restaurant consultant, and he talked about chain restaurants. He said it all comes down to economics. "With development costs these days, the little guy can't afford it," he said. "An acre in Cranberry is $800,000 to a million. A restaurant needs up to two acres, then you have to build the building and the equipment. Not too many independents can afford a $3 to $4-million-dollar investment. But the chains sure can." Sofranko, who is one of the owners of Jergel…

I cannot fathom the excitement over chain restaurants. It amazes me that people get excited over twice BBQ stuffed hickory blackened chipotle chicken with a side of pasta. Instead of the joy about the Red Lobster (thankfully defunct) head to the Jackson Fish Company. Take a tall boy in paper bag and get an oyster Po Boy. Go to Mirchi in Excel Plaza and tell the server you want whatever the chef …   more ›
