Winter Weather Advisory Now in Effect Until 7 p.m.

National Weather Service warns of blowing snow and icy roads.

The evening commute may be something of a challenge to drivers.

The National Weather Service's winter weather advisory now remains in effect until 7 p.m. Previously, the warning only was in effect to 4 p.m.

"The combination of snow showers and blowing snow can still cause hazardous travel conditions through the evening," the weather service website states. "Nighttime conditions will add to the hazard impacts as increased traffic can cause ice to develop on untreated pavements beneath the packed-down snow."

A winter weather advisory for snow means periods of snow can cause travel difficulties, the weather service stated.

Motorists are advised to be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibility.
