Where to Catch Fourth of July Fireworks
Your handy Patch guide for the holiday.
On Wednesday, we celebrate America's freedom, and, of course, we want to do it with boom.
Cranberry won't have its fireworks display until July 14, the last day of its upcoming three-day Community Days event, but there are plenty of places around the region to catch pyrotechnics.
Zelienople Rotary Club July 4 Parade and Festivities
The parade on Main Street starts at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Festivities will follow at the Zelienople Community Park. The Phil Harmonic Orchestra will perform at 8:15 p.m. at the park. Fireworks begin just after dusk (usually around 10 p.m.).
The Big Butler Fair
The biggest fair in the region continues through July 7. Catch its equally big fireworks display at dusk tonight. Get to the Big Butler Fairgrounds in Prospect early to catch all the other activities the fair offers, including a petting zoo, rides, and plenty of food vendors.
Gate admission, excluding carnival rides, is $6 before 4 p.m. The cost is $8 after 4 p.m. Children younger than 2 are admitted free. A one-day ride band is $20. Parking is free.
Three Rivers Regatta Pittsburgh
Featured during the Three Rivers Regatta, the EQT “Flashes of Freedom” Fireworks Fantasia will include a 30-minute display produced by Pyrotecnico. This year, the New Castle-based company is promising a few Regatta 35th anniversary "surprises" sure to amaze audiences. The fireworks display kicks off at about 9:35 p.m.
Leetsdale Independence Day Parade
Join the Sewickley-area Independence Day parade, which begins at the Quaker Valley Shopping Center at 2 p.m. and traverses down Beaver and Broad Streets, ending at Henle Park. The Splash Pad will be open at the park from noon to 6 p.m. The concession stand will be open from 2 to 9 p.m. and the bands will perform from 3 to 9 p.m.
Pre-fireworks will be held from 9 to 9:45 p.m. at the Quaker Valley School District field. Fireworks follow at 9:45 p.m.
Kennywood’s Celebrate America!
The venerable amusement park is holding a week’s worth of star-spangled events through Thursday, July 5. This includes special entertainment, an antique cars show, music groups and nightly fireworks displays.
Heinz Field Fourth of July Celebration
Independence Day will be celebrated at Heinz Field with food, games, fun and fireworks. The free event includes performances by the Bearded Irishmen, The Stickers and headliner Phil Vassar. The gates open at 2 p.m. For more information, click here.
