Whee! North Park May Get Zip Line

The attraction would allow visitors to fly over the trees.

Allegheny County council is considering a proposal to install a zip line in North Park.

The course would run in a tree-lined area between Pierce Mill road and the tennis courts, past the boat house, KDKA-TV reported.

“We think it will bring new people, different segment of people to the park and we also look at it as a way for the county to raise some new revenue,” Director of County Parks Andrew Baechle told KDKA.

County council is considering plans drawn up by the company Go Ape!, which specializes in outdoor entertainment.

“We’re going to get you in a harness, put you about 40 feet up in the trees,” Managing Director of Go Ape! Dan D’Agostino told KDKA. “We’re really excited about North Park because it’s a beautiful park, beautiful location.”

Baechle estimates the zip line would generate $20,000 a year in revenue to the county.

Allegheny County Council members are expected to vote on the new attraction in February.

If approved, the zip line could be up in the spring.

WOW nice! most people would never get to try this unless they went out of the country... this will be awesome! It is really fun and safe. I went one time and there were 2 women over 75 did it with us! The one was scared at first, but after the first run, she was all about it!
