UPDATE: Babcock/Warrendale Intersection Improvements Delayed

There will be single-lane alternating traffic from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays as crews widen the road and install traffic signals.

Work on a $1 million project to improve the intersection of Babcock Boulevard and Warrendale Road in Pine Township has been delayed until July 19, according to PennDOT.

The work originally was slated to begin today (Thursday).

According to PennDOT, the project will make it easier for motorists to navigate the intersection, which is near Pine-Richland High School. Work includes reconstructing and widening the intersection, installing traffic signals and repaving.

Single-lane alternating use traffic—with the assistance of flaggers—will be in place at the intersection from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays beginning July 5. The work is expected to conclude in early January.

Lane Construction Corporation of Pittsburgh is the prime contractor for the project.

PennDOT advises motorists to use caution and expect delays and changing traffic patterns when traveling through the area.
