Wondering how singing star Jackie Evancho's talents transfer to the silver screen?
You can catch a glimpse of the 12-year-old in the just-released trailer for Robert Redford's The Company You Keep. The Pine-Richland phenom plays Redford's daughter in the action film based on Neil Gordon's novel of the same name.
Redford plays Jim Grant, a Vietnam-era fugitive wanted on murder charges for a robbery that went wrong in 1974. When a young newspaper reporter (Shia LaBeouf) starts pursuing the story, Grant goes on the run with his daughter, Isabel, in tow.
"What's wrong? You look weird," Isabel (Jackie) asks her father (Redford) in a kitchen scene from the trailer.
"I'm fine, honey," Redford answers as he glances over a newspaper with a story about a fellow fugitive's arrest.
Later, you see Redford and Jackie getting into a car with Redford saying:
"We're not going to school. We're going to go on a little trip."
The next time you see Jackie in the trailer, she is sitting on a park bench with a cell phone to her ear, asking: "Did you kill that man?"
Redford answers: "Of course not."
As it looks like Redford is on the run, the reporter surmises: "I don't think he's running away. I think he's trying to clear his name."
The cast also includes Susan Sarandon, Julie Christie, Nick Nolte, Terrence Howard, Chris Cooper, Brendan Gleeson, Anna Kendrick and Richard Jenkins. It will be released by Sony Pictures Classics.
Jackie continues her singing career with a concert tonight (Friday) in California where she shares the stage with the legendary Tony Bennett.
