Seneca Valley Sweeps PMEA Choral Festival

More than a dozen students move on to next month's regional competition.

students are still celebrating after a successful showing at the recent Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 5 Choral Festival held Jan. 26-28 at Greenville High School in Mercer County.

Seneca Valley had 13 students earn enough points through the festival audition to move on to the next level.

District 5 is a four-county area, including Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties. Seneca Valley not only advanced more students than other districts of a larger size, they had more students advance to the next round than the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School, a statement from Seneca Valley said.

Students moving on to regional chorus festival are Josh Baktay, Emily Bintrim, Sara Buggy, Kristin Carmella, Elicia Gibson, Beth Holl, Julianna Hritz, Abbie Kalnas (first chair), Ben Paget, Charlie Schade, Nick Traverso (first chair), Jamie Walters (first chair) and Josh Wentz. Matt Sweikowski was chosen as an alternate.

The regional competition will be held March 8-10 at Mercer High School.
