Seneca Valley's Bradley Snyder Wins Music Scholarship
The high school senior is one of five students in the area to receive a scholarship from the Blackwood Theater Organ Society.
This Seneca Valley student is hitting a high note.
Bradley Snyder is one of only five students in the tri-state area to be awarded a 2012 scholarship from the Blackwood Theater Organ Society, a nonprofit that encourages students to pursue instrumental music performance careers.
Snyder, who plays the bass trombone, was awarded the scholarship following an audition at Heinz Hall March 11.
The bass captain of the Seneca Valley marching band, Snyder is a member of the Youngstown Symphony Youth Orchestra and the River City Youth Brass Band. The high school senior also regularly performs with the Kings Ambassadors Band and the Tuesday Night Big Band.
He plans to pursue degrees in music performance and education.
Snyder and the four other winners will perform in a recital at 2 p.m. May 20 in the Music Room at the Blackwood Estate in Harrisville, PA. The concert is free and open to the public.
In the last twelve years, the Blackwood Society has awarded more than $179,000 in scholarships to high school seniors planning to pursue an instrumental music performance degree in college. This year’s scholarships totaled $27,000.
