Seneca Valley Knocks Off Hempfield in First Round of WPIAL Playoffs

Thanks to Friday’s win over Hempfield, the Seneca Valley football team is heading to the WPIAL AAAA quarterfinals.

In a matchup at NexTier stadium, the Raiders defeated the Spartans by a score of 50-20. The no. 4 seeded Raiders are now 9-1 overall.

Raiders running back Forrest Barnes had standout game Friday with 100 rushing yards, 104 receiving yards and five touchdowns, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. 

By the time the second half rolled around, the Raiders led the Spartans 43-0.

Quarterback Jordan Brown also broke a record Friday by passing for more than 5,000 total career yards, making him the all-time leading passer at Seneca Valley, the Trib reports. 

Up next, Seneca Valley will take on No. 5 seed Mt. Lebanon in the quarterfinals. The Blue Devils, who defeated the Butler Golden Tornados Friday by a score of 31-7, are 8-2 overall.
