In a tough physical contest, Seneca Valley defeated the Kiski Area Cavaliers Thursday by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. The Raiders now advance to the WPIAL's semifinals.

The two teams battled it out at North Allegheny High School in Wexford. The Raiders were familiar with the field after defeating the Tigers there in a September matchup.

With 12 minutes remaining in the first half Thursday, Robbie Wright scored after a Josh Allman cross to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead.

Despite attempts on the goal by both teams, that was the only score of the game. Efforts by Seneca Valley's Brain Pudlo and the rest of the defense gave the team its ninth shutout of the season.

The Raiders have now won eight straight matches against Class AAA clubs. Seneca Valley next takes on Section 5 champ Upper St Clair (15-1-2) at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Chartiers Valley High School.

Both teams have played Chartiers Valley, Bethel Park, Mt. Lebanon and Kiski this season. The Raiders were 2-2-0 against these AAA teams. USC was 3-1-1.
