Readers’ Choice: And the Winner of the Best Place to Get Ice Cream Is…
Young’s Custard Stand.
The weather outside is hot, or at least it was a few days ago. Hey, this is Pittsburgh weather we’re talking about here. But when the weather does get steamy, is there a better way to cool down than with a frozen treat?
We didn’t think so. Which is why we asked readers to vote for their favorite ice cream place in the Cranberry area.
From the start, Scherer’s Ice Cream on Rochester Road in Cranberry and Young’s Custard Stand in Zelienople were neck-and-neck with votes. On Friday, Young’s edged out Scherer’s to win the poll.
The custard stand finished first with 20 percent of the votes. Scherer’s finished a close second with 19 percent of the vote. In third was Rita’s Italian Ice in Cranberry.
Thank you to all those who voted in the poll. Just for fun, leave your favorite ice cream flavor in the comment section below.

Hi Linda,
It's on Route 68, just outside of Zelienople.
