Cranberry Patch has the scoop on all the events around the community worth leaving your house for this weekend.
It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.
Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and new bars/restaurants/shops to explore.
Where/When: Noon on Thursday at the intersection of Forbes Avenue and Ross Street in Downtown Pittsburgh.
Why Go: Cheer on the Steelers before they take on the Green Bay Packers in Sunday’s Super Bowl. Rally events include the Myron Cope Terrible Towel Wave and contests for Steelers fans. Mayor Luke Ravenstahl also will shred a giant head of cheese. Take that, Cheeseheads!
Pricing: A free free-for-all.
2. SENECA VALLEY PROM FASHION SHOW
Where/When: The Senior High School auditorium at 7 p.m. Thursday
Why Go: To see the class of 2011 model the latest prom fashions. Plus, it’s for a good cause. All proceeds benefit this year’s prom.
Pricing: $5. There also will be a basket raffle.
Where/When: Chick-Fil-A on Route 228 in Cranberry from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday.
Why Go: For the chance to try a new menu item. The restaurant will offer free samples of its new Spicy Chicken Biscuit during a breakfast-for-dinner event. There’s a catch, of course. To get the free sandwich, participants must wear their pajamas.
Pricing: Free if you wear your jammies.
4. HELPING PAWS
Where/When: Boscov’s at the Beaver Valley Mall, Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Why Go: Because you want to help out your furry friends. Helping Paws , a non-profit devoted to helping animals, will be at the mall to raise money for local rescue groups. Dog and cat items will be for sale, and animals also will be available for adoption. Applications will be taken there.
Pricing: Free
5. PARTY LIKE A STEELER
Where/When: The North Park Lounge and Bamboo Bar on Route 19, 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Why Go: To watch the Steelers win another Super Bowl Championship, of course. For the price of $50, gain entry into the private party at the Bamboo Bar. Included in the cost are Coors Lights drafts and well liquor, and four food buffets -- one at pre-game, one at the first-quarter mark, one at halftime and another at the second half.
Captain Morgan and the Captainettes will be there to keep you company along with the Coors Light Girls. The bar also will hold a raffle for a jersey signed by James Farrior and a helmet signed by Ziggy Hood.
