Today's small businesses know the importance of an online presence ... or do they?

Patch is hosting Main Street U, a free event on Friday, Nov. 2 designed to teach business owners, nonprofits and other organizations how to improve their connection to the community online.

The event starts at 9 a.m., with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m., at Pine Community Center. Coffee and refreshments will be provided.

Business owners can learn about how to take better advantage of social media tools such as Facebook and Twitter, with mini-workshops delivered by Patch staffers on how to use Patch and add your own content to the online conversation.

There will be presentations on social media and its importance, how to use Patch to boost your online presence and more.
