A preliminary hearing for a Middlesex teen charged with burglary in a Richland Township home invasion has been postponed until Wednesday, Oct. 3.
Leo James Nealon's hearing before Magisterial District Judge Suzanne Blaschak originally was scheduled for Wednesday (Sept. 26).
Nealon, 18, is charged with felony counts of burglary and conspiracy, as well as a misdemeanor count of possessing instruments of crime.
Northern Regional Police arrested Nealon and a 17-year-old on Sept. 17 after a break-in at a home on Sandy Hill Road in northeastern Richland Township.
Nealon turned himself in at his Middlesex (Valencia) home, police said.
Northern Regional police were called to the Sandy Hill Road home about 3:45 p.m. by a 17-year-old resident who was home alone when he heard someone trying to break in through the side door and then the front door, Amann said.
The teen called police after he fled out the back door and into the woods, staying on the phone to keep police updated, the chief said.
When police arrived at the home at 3661 Sandy Hill Road, they captured one of the suspects coming out the back door, Amann said.
The other fled into the woods, setting off a search that included officers from multiple localities and the Pennsylvania State Police.
The rural wooded neighborhood is close to the intersection of Middlesex Township in Butler County, West Deer and Richland townships.
