Although Saturday featured wet weather, that didn’t stop crowds from showing up at Harmony’s first Bluegrass and Old Time Music Festival.

“We fought the weather all morning,” said Dennis McCurdy, owner of the Bottlebrush Gallery and Shop and one of the festival’s organizers.

As the skies cleared throughout the afternoon, the audience at the outdoor event, located in the center of Harmony’s town square, grew, McCurdy said.

Close to half a dozen bands were featured during Saturday’s gathering, including headliner Dry Branch Fire Squad. After 5 p.m., the bands, and the attendees, headed to the Historic Harmony Barn to continue the celebration.

McCurdy said the festival was the result of planning—started in January—by the local parks and trails committee, the business association, the historical society and more.

“Everybody pitched in to help,” he said. “The people here are fantastic.”

A fantastic event! Great music . A special thanks goes out to Dennis and MJ McMurdy ( Bottlebrush Gallery) for suggesting this and truly making it happen. Thanks to Harmony Boro's Park and Rec board for putting it on. And all for the sponsors and volunteers for the efforts. This will become a great local music tradition. I can just feel it.
