Guess Which Community is No. 1 in Home Sales?
If you guessed Cranberry, you’re right on the money. Adams Township gets the No. 2 nod.
On Thursday, the Pittsburgh Business Times posted the top 10 communities in the region by 2011 home sales. The numbers were based on figures from RealSTATs' listing of total dollar volume.
With a total dollar volume of $159, 565, 810, Cranberry was ranked No.1 in the region. Taking the No. 2 spot was neighboring Adams Township.
"Cranberry Township earning the No. 1 spot in total homes sales in 2011 is another indication of the value of good planning and the implementation of those plans, including investing in community infrastructure," said township manager Jerry Andree.
RealSTATS also named Adams the region’s strongest residential community. The South Side-based research firm dubbed Adams the overall winner as its Gold Medal Community, based on the sales performance of the homes within it.
According to the Pittsburgh Business Times, Adams had the greatest increase in investment and the number of home sales from 2000 to 2011. It’s total dollar volume in 2011 was $123, 676, 618.
The silver medal community was the second ward of the city of Pittsburgh. The third place bronze went to Peters Township in Washington County.

Not on Freedom Road where once you buy your home you own it till you die ! Who wants to live in a buffer Zone?

buffer Zone? Im pretty sure several owners along Freedom road have been running businesses, for decades, from their homes....

I agree 100% with Jerry Andree- "Cranberry Township earning the No. 1 spot in total homes sales in 2011 is another indication of the value of good planning and the implementation of those plans, including investing in community infrastructure" Sure we are not 100 perfect (sidewalks- Freedom Road) but its not because our leader aren't trying or planning. Our elected and appointed officials do a fine job within their means and deserve recognition for their hard work. In short- we lead home sales- which means YOUR real estate investment is safe and GROWING!

James- The Bellevue Park community on Rochester Road is a TND (traditional neighborhood development- transition zone). Sales there are beyond incredible and just a few years after starting they will be sold out very soon- It includes townhouses, condos single family homes and commercial development. "The glass is half full."

My parents have been running an electronics business since the 1950's and we where here before zoning. How ever when zoning was enacted we where not zoned correctly and zoned residential. The other home owners on freedom Road are being use as a buffer zone just ask Township manager Jerry Andree as he says "every one is happy about this" shame he does not talk to the residents on Freedom Road !

So you know what is going on . The citizens on Freedom Road are suing Cranberry Township for violating their Fourteenth Amendment rights .
Andree said the homes on Freedom Road long served as a buffer between the heavily trafficked corridor and the quiet residential neighborhoods behind it. Neighbors had no desire to change that.
