Seneca Valley’s new assistant director of special education enjoys baseball, yard work—and ironing.

The Seneca Valley school year is just around the corner, and with it comes a host of new faces in different roles around the district.

To help you get to know your educators a bit better, Cranberry Patch is launching “New Faces,” a series of mini-profiles. Today, we feature Cecil R. Crouch III, assistant director of special education.

Name: Cecil R. Crouch III

Position: Assistant Director of Special Education

What position did you hold before joining SV in your new role? Educational consultant for Pennsylvania Training & Technical Assistance Network (PaTTAN) in Harrisburg.

Tell us about your new role at Seneca Valley. What are your goals for the school year? What are you most excited about?

I will be helping to facilitate the programs related to special education in the district. I have many goals for the school year, but probably the most critical is ensuring that the students, parents, teachers and administrators can look back at the end of this year and say that hiring me was a good idea. I am most excited about working with the committed, talented and knowledgeable professionals that make up the Seneca Valley staff.

We want to get to know you better. Tell us about your life outside the district. Any fun hobbies?

I have a beautiful wife and children—both boys. The boys are both active in sports and other activities, which keeps me very busy on evenings and weekends. I enjoy exercising (running and weight lifting), coaching baseball, yard work, paperwork and ironing.

What is your own favorite school memory?

My favorite school memory was getting the opportunity to practice at the Butler Country Club after school with the golf team. The academics are an equally fond memory.
