Get Out: Santa Arrives in Cranberry and Twilight Premieres
Cranberry Patch has some ideas for your weekend.
Let’s give three cheers for Friday! Here’s what happening this weekend around the Cranberry area.
When/Where: 7 tonight at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center.
Why Go: Santa and Mrs. Claus leave the North Pole to visit Cranberry. Instead of a sleigh, they’ll arrive on a specially-commissioned fire truck. After Santa lights the community tree, there will be a series of indoor family activities and crafts.
2. Twilight Opens
Why Go:This is for Twi-hards only. Part One of Breaking Dawn, based on the last book in the immensely popular Twilight series, premiered at midnight. Get to the theater early throughout the rest of the weekend to watch as Bella (spoiler alert!) marries her vampire love Edward.
Price: $6.50 for children and senior citizens. $9.50 for adults. Don’t forget to bring money for popcorn – and Kleenex!
When/Where: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Haine Elementary/Middle Schoolon Haine School Road.
Why Go: Take care of some of your holiday shopping at the Haine Parent Teacher Organization’s eighth annual craft fair. There will be a plethora of products on display, including jewelry and unique gifts. The Chrysler Drive for Kids fundraiser also will be a part of the event. Every licensed driver can earn $10 for the school by taking a test drive in the vehicles that will be on the lot during the expo.
Price: Cost of craft items.
When/Where: 6 to 11 p.m. today and Saturday at Hartwood Acres Park.
Why Go:If you didn't get enough of the holiday spirit at Cranberry’s light up night, get to Hartwood Acres tonight or Saturday for a 3.2 mile ride through an array of light displays. The park’s annual Celebration of Lights is a tradition for many in the Pittsburgh area. Proceeds benefit Project Bundle Up and other local charities.
Price: $12 per car. For buses, cost is $3 per person for non-profit organizations and $5 per person for profit organizations.
When/Where:Zumba class is from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at No Excuses Fitness by Kellyon Perry Highway in Zelienople. Shopping will begin at 9 a.m. and takes place before and after the Zumba class.
Why Go: Shop (and dance) for a cause. The event benefits the American Cancer Society.Spend more than an hour dancing off last night’s dessert before checking out items from Avon, Miche Bags, Thirty-One and much more. There will be drawings for prizes and gift basket. The event is open to everyone.
Price: $5 per person for Zumba class.
