Now might be the time to head to Giant Eagle to stock up on toilet paper, milk and salt.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for counties north and west of Pittsburgh, including Butler County.  The advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Friday to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Forecasters are calling for 3 to 5 inches of snow tonight through Saturday morning. Hazardous travel conditions are expected because of snow and ice covered roads. Today’s high temperature will be around 25 degrees.

If you commute to downtown Pittsburgh for work, you may also want to keep an eye on the roads.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Allegheny County from 7 p.m. Friday to 1 p.m. Saturday.

The warning is in effect for counties along the Interstate-70 corridor due to forecast predictions for a wintry mix Friday night of freezing rain, sleet and snow, the weather service said.

The weather service said a cold front sweeping through the area would generate a quarter-inch of ice and snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches tonight and Saturday morning.
