Update: Flood Watch Ends for Area

Creeks and streams were running high this morning.

The flood watch in effect until 4 p.m. today for Southwest Pennsylvania has been lifted, according to the National Weather Service.

Overnight, 1 to 2 inches of rain reportedly fell across the watch area. Streams and creeks were running at high levels and out of their banks in some places due to last nights rain, the weather service said.

Rain continued this morning with additional rainfall of an inch or more possible.

Route 8 also was temporarily closed in both directions this morning as emergency crews removed a tractor-trailer that crashed into Pine Creek in the area of Elfinwild Road in Shaler Township.

The tractor-trailer may have hydroplaned before it crashed into Pine Creek, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The driver was not seriously hurt, the Post-Gazette reported.
