Five Things You Need to Know This Week

Patch gives you a rundown of what's going on in the community in the week leading up to Memorial Day.

 

1. Seneca Valley Superintendent Forum

Dr. Tracy Vitale, superintendent of Seneca Valley School District, will meet with the public for open dialogue at 9 a.m. today (Monday) at Rowan Elementary School.

2. Seneca Valley School Board Meeting

Get the latest on the district’s budget talks in person. Seneca Valley school officials meet at 8 p.m. Monday at the Intermediate High School in Jackson Township.

3. Cranberry Waterpark Opening Day

Keep your fingers crossed for good weather. The Cranberry Community Waterpark at North Boundary Park opens Saturday to kick off the long Memorial Day weekend. The waterpark, which features a 15,000 square-foot pool and a 12-foot waterslide, will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily through Labor Day.

4. Cranberry Veterans Memorial Day Program

Residents are asked to bring a chair to the 45-minute Memorial Day veterans program taking place at 1 p.m. Sunday at North Boundary Park. This year’s guest speaker is Stephen Mihalacki, Retired Captain, United States Army. There also will be a presentation of colors by the Cranberry Township VFW color guard, a performance of the national anthem by Seneca Valley student Elicia Gibson, a color guard and rifle salute by the Ohio Valley Marine Corps League Detachment, a presentation of memorial wreaths and a release of white doves to remember prisoners of war and those missing in action.

5. Zelienople Memorial Day Service

The Zelienople American Legion will hold a Memorial Day service/procession from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday in the borough.

I will be attending the Economy Borough Veterans Memorial Service up at the new Veterans Memorial located on Conway Wallrose Road near the Economy police station. Looking forward to honoring those who have sacrificed their time, talents, efforts and lives...thank you for serving VETERANS!!!
