2. Ash Wednesday
Wednesday, Feb. 12 marks the beginning of the 46-day Lent period leading up to Easter. A number of churches around the Cranberry area will hold Ash Wednesday services. For some religions, this includes the imposition of ashes—which is when the foreheads are marked with ashes.
The ashes are typically made from the palms used at the prior year's Palm Sunday services and blessed. Check our Patch directory for a list of local churches.
3. Butler County Humane Society Valentine's Day Party & Benefit
The event includes live music, refreshments from local restaurants, door prizes, a raffle, a silent auction and a scavenger hunt. The Humane Society is bringing some of the animals looking for a new home. The gallery also will have animal-themed art on display from regional artists.
Attendees are asked to bring a toy, food, blankets, kitty litter or other items for the animals.
