Five Things You Need to Know This Week

Patch gives you a rundown of what's going on around the community.

 

1. Seneca Valley School Board Meeting

What’s going on in your child’s school? Find out in person when Seneca Valley school officials meet at 8 p.m. Monday at the Intermediate High School in Jackson Township.

2. Registration Opens for Cranberry Fall Programs

Online and walk-in registration for the Cranberry Township Parks & Recreation Department’s fall schedule of classes, sports, crafts and fitness programs opens at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center. Mail-in and telephone registrations will be accepted beginning at noon. Click here to check out the 2012 Fall Program Guide.

3. Connoquenessing Valley Heritage Trail Workday

Youths and mentors are asked to meet from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the red barn on Mercer Street in Harmony. Work to be done includes clearing the Connoquenessing Valley Heritage Trail of weeds, bushes and small trees.  Connoquenessing Valley Communities for Youth will provide water all day and pizza for lunch. Gloves, shovels, mattocks, chain saw, and loppers to cut small branches are needed.

4. Voting Ends for Readers’ Choice

The voting period for the Readers’ Choice awards to determine the best businesses and activities in the Cranberry Patch ends Friday, Aug. 17. In the meantime, there’s still time to vote! For a list of categories, click here. Whichever business gets the most votes will be named the Readers' Choice winner.

5. Seneca Valley Garage Sale

The Seneca Valley School District will hold a summer "garage" sale from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18 at the maintenance garage across from the secondary campus main entrance in Jackson Township. The sale will include old office, classroom and cafeteria equipment.
