Five Things You Need to Know This Week

Patch gives you a rundown of what's going on around the community.

1. Cranberry Planning Advisory Commission

Get the scoop on what developments are in the works for Cranberry. The commission meets at 5:30 p.m. tonight at the Cranberry Township Municipal Building on Rochester Road. On the agenda are plans for the proposed new North Catholic High School on Route 228 near the border of Seven Fields and an office building on Dutilh Road.

2. Tickets Go On Sale for “Kick it for Kylee” Movie Night at The Strand

Tickets go on sale Monday for a screening of Rise & Shine: The Jay Demerit Story, the true story of a young American’s rise to soccer prominence. The movie will play at 3 p.m. on March 31 at The Strand Theater in Zelienople.

A $3 donation benefits Kick it for Kylee, a nonprofit dedicated to easing the financial burden on parents who have a child with a severe life threatening medical condition the North Pittsburgh area. This year’s recipient is the Butler family of 3-year-old Riley, who has had numerous surgeries and is in need of a bowel transplant. For more information, click here.

3. Cranberry Job Fair: Seasonal Employment

Stop by Cranberry’s job fair from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday at the Cranberry Highlands Golf Course. The fair will feature seasonal employment opportunities with the Cranberry Highlands Golf Course, public works and parks and recreation departments.

4. Seneca Valley Holds Spring Sports Physicals, Drug Testing

Seneca Valley will hold spring sports physicals and drug testing for students in grades 7-12 at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the senior high school. For the physical, athletes must submit a PIAA comprehensive physical form. The $15 fee may be paid in cash or with a check made payable to SVSD. Forms are available by clicking here or at the athletic office.

For drug testing, students must bring a completed Seneca Valley parental/guardian/custodian drug testing consent form, which is available in the office or by clicking here. The $28 fee may be paid in cash or in a check payable to SVSD.

5. Catch the Cranberry Episode of Showhouse Showdown on HGTV

Cranberry will be featured at 2:30 p.m. on March 3 with the season premiere of "Showhouse Showdown" on HGTV.

In this episode, two professional interior designers take over two newly built houses in the Mystic Ride neighborhood with mirror-image floor plans. The designers will compete head-to-head, creating five signature rooms in each house using identical budgets and on the same schedule. Bob Guiney, from ABC’s “The Bachelor”, hosts the show.
