Five Things to Do This Weekend

It’s a black and gold weekend at Patch Cranberry.

Is everybody ready for some football? With a little more than 48 hours to go before the big Steelers versus Jets game on Sunday, Patch has some suggestions for your time before Pittsburgh rocks the AFC Championship. Go Steelers!

Friday

 1. Snowy Day Crafts -- Provided the classes aren’t canceled due to weather, Cranberry Township’s parks and recreation department invites those ages 4 to 6 to participate in making winter crafts with friends. The class takes place from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the municipal building. The cost is $10 per child or $15 for non-residents.

2. “Ground the Jets Rally” – Here we go! Allegheny County and Pittsburgh will host a rally Friday in honor of the Steelers AFC title game against the New York Jets. The fun starts at noon around the “Terrible Tree” in the courtyard of the Allegheny County Courthouse in Pittsburgh.

Eat’n Park, Dunkin’ Donuts and Turner Dairy Farm will provide limited, complimentary refreshments on a on a first-come, first-served basis. Hometowne Sports will provide a limited number of free giveaways, and complimentary face-painting will also be available.

Fans are encouraged to continue contributing black and gold decorations and Steelers paraphernalia to adorn the 20-foot Terrible Tree. Donations are being accepted daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the guard station in the courtyard of the County Courthouse, as well as the Boyce, Hartwood, North, Round Hill, South and White Oak park offices.

Saturday

3. Go Shopping -- Check out the Patch’s guide to throwing the ultimate Steelers party and then head to Giant Eagle or Kuhn’s Market to stock up on supplies.

Sunday

4. Start Tailgating – Bamboo Bar at The North Park Lounge Deckhouse on Route 19 is hosting a tailgate party starting a 3 p.m. Cheers!

5. Cheer on the black and gold – The Steelers are on the road to the Super Bowl! The game starts at 6:30 p.m. Get ready to wave your Terrible Towels in the air as the Steelers bring the Jets down to earth.
