The Cranberry area is expected to continue to experience high winds and rain through early Tuesday morning thanks to Hurricane (now Superstorm) Sandy.

The area remains under a flood watch until 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Cranberry Patch is dedicated to bringing you continuous coverage of the weather event and how it is affecting the community.

As of Tuesday morning Penn Power is reporting no outages in the Cranberry area. There are a handful of customers in Adams Township without electricity, according to a Penn Power outage map.

PennDOT also is reporting Yellow Creek Road/Little Creek Road is now open in both directions in Lancaster Township. The road was closed Tuesday morning due to downed tree and utility lines.

Cranberry Fire Chief Brian Kovac said it was relatively quiet at the township's fire stations Monday night. Firefighters were called out twice for automatic alarms, he said.

Volunteers, who staffed both stations overnight, also were called out to assist PennDOT in removing a few downed trees from Franklin Road and to assist the township in removing downed trees along Ehrman Road.

"It was uneventful," he said.

Cranberry manager Jerry Andree said the township would continue to monitor the weather and to send advisories to residents and customers based on any changing conditions.

See Mitt, we don't need no big government FEMA in SW PA.

And BTW Willard, any of your several mansions get damaged? Will you be applying for help from the Big Bad Federales? It is your right until and unless you give away FEMA to the states or, better yet (as you said) let it go private. Of course a thirsty person will pay for a $5 bottle of tap water and not worry about the cost of a helicopter plucking you off your roof. It's just business and you are indeed the
demonstrated expert.
