Driver Strikes Van, Knocks Over Light Pole on Rowan Road

Police are investigating the incident.

Police are investigating after a woman crashed the car she was driving into a light pole at about 6 p.m. Tuesday evening in front of the Rowan Towers complex on Rowan Road.

The driver knocked over the light pole after striking at least one vehicle in the building’s parking lot.

A woman who works inside the Rowan Towers said the driver struck a car on Rowan Road before entering the building's parking lot.

The driver then circled around the six-story building’s parking lot, leaving a trail of car fluid behind her, before smashing into the front of a parked van belonging to the , which is inside the Rowan Towers.

Kathleen Williams, who owns the daycare center, said she was grateful the driver struck the van and not one of the building’s occupants.

"She hit the van and the curb. Therefore she didn't hit anyone else," she said.

There were children inside the daycare at the time of the crash, she said. There also were students taking classes at the which is on the fourth floor of Rowan Towers.

Firefighters on the scene said the driver did not appear to be injured. She walked from her car to a Cranberry EMS ambulance, which then transported her to an area hospital.

The occupants inside the other car the driver stuck on Rowan Road also were not injured.
