Cranberry Switches to New Public Notification System
The township does away with Nixle alerts to instead offer its own service, Cranberry Connect.
Cranberry Township has a new way to get the word out to residents about parks and recreation programs, meeting notices and more.
On Friday, Cranberry informed residents it was no longer using Nixle, the alert notification system it previously used to correspond with the community. A new system called “Cranberry Connect,” which officials say will offer better communications to the public, replaces it.
Offered through Cranberry's website, the free service features outreach messages for emergency notifications, bid notices, recreational events, delays and cancellations and other happenings.
While Cranberry already presented most of these services through Nixle alerts and email blasts, Cranberry Connect takes these notifications and puts it under one umbrella.
Residents may choose to receive the notifications by text or email.
