Cranberry Police Looking for Two Men in NPL Gunshot Incident
Charges are pending against a 32-year-old Butler man who was taken into custody and released.
Cranberry Police are searching for two men, one white and one black, who may have been involved in a dispute with a man who fired a gun in the parking lot behind the North Park Lounge early Sunday morning.
“We believe the white male may have been the intended target of the person who fired the shot,” said Sgt. Chuck Mascellino.
No one was injured in the incident. Mascellino said a 32-year-old Butler man was taken into custody Sunday and released. The man is not being identified while police continue their investigation, Mascellino said.
Police expect to file charges against the man later this week, he said.
Mascellino said the Butler man and the white man were involved in a dispute inside Bamboo Bar near the bar’s closing time at 2 a.m. The bar is a separate open-air section behind the main restaurant.
Mascellino said the argument continued once the men were outside and led to the 32-year-old firing a gun. The Butler man then left the bar. He later was pulled over in Jackson Township by Jackson police, Mascellino said.
Mascellino said there were five people in the parking lot when the man fired the gun. Anyone with information in the incident, or who may have seen the two men officers are searching for, are asked to call Cranberry police at 724-776-5180.
The North Park Lounge and Bamboo Bar both opened at their regular times Sunday. Restaurant manager Scott Brady said the incident is unusual for the popular locally-owned restaurant and bar on Route 19, in an area considered to be safe.
“This is the first time this has happened,” he said. “Nothing like this ever happens.”
