Cranberry Man Pleads Guilty To Tax Evasion

David Hendrick is scheduled to be sentenced in April 2012.

 

A resident of Cranberry Township pleaded guilty in federal court to charges of income tax evasion and filing a false document, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.

David Hendrick pleaded guilty to two counts before United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab.

In connection with the guilty plea, the court was advised that Hendrick attempted to evade payment of a Trust Fund Recovery Penalty in the amount of $1,605,997.84. He also made multiple false statements in an IRS Form 433-A (Collection Information Statement for Wage Earners and Self-Employed Individuals).

Judge Schwab scheduled sentencing for April 20, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. The law provides for a total sentence of five years in prison and three years supervised release on Count 1, and three years in prison and one year supervised release on Count 2, as well as a fine of $250,000 and a $100 special assessment on both counts. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed is based upon the seriousness of the offense and the criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Pending sentencing, the court released the defendant on bond.

Assistant United States Attorney Leo M. Dillon is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.

The Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Hendrick.
