Cranberry Firefighters Respond to Vehicle Fire on Turnpike

The female driver is not injured.

Cranberry firefighters responded to a vehicle fire on the westbound lanes of the Turnpike near the Cranberry exit close to rush hour Monday.

The Dodge pickup truck was engulfed in flames when volunteers arrived near the highway's exit to the township on the overpass above Route 19 at 4:20 p.m. The truck's female driver was not injured, according to fire officials.

Fire Chief Brian Kovac said the driver's insurance company would determine the cause of the fire. Both westbound lanes of the Turnpike were temporarily shut down until firefighters cleared the highway at about 5 p.m.
