Cranberry Patch will be at the opening night of the Associated Artists of Butler County faculty show at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center. The exhibit runs through Nov. 9.

To build excitement for the show, Cranberry Patch is featuring a different local artist on the site each day leading up to the opening night.

“Poppy,” an original watercolor by Mary Alice Carmody-Diana, also will be raffled off at the event. Attendees must be present to win the artwork, which will be on display at the Patch table.

Today, we feature a profile on Kathleen H. Bischak, whose pieces “Free,” “The Protector,” “Inception of Sleep” and “Pittsburgh Memories” will be on display at the show.

Name: Kathleen H. Bischak

Education: BS in art education from Edinboro State College and an ME with credits from Kutztown University and University of the Arts in Philadelphia.

Kathleen H. Bischak is a retired art teacher who lives in New Sewickley Township. Most recently, she has been working on landscape paintings with acrylics.

Another medium of interest is fiber, especially batik historical images. Bischak taught art at Evans City School in the Seneca Valley School District for 31 years and she has taught art privately.

Bischak also does commissioned portraits of people and houses. She is influenced by the impressionists. Most recently, she studied with Joe Sweeney of the University of the Arts.

She has a BS in art education from Edinboro State College and an ME with credits from Kutztown University and University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
